Attorney says Mississippi man’s drowning on Miami River ‘completely preventable’

A tragic drowning on the Miami River has raised serious concerns over boating safety and accountability. Trevonte C. Johnson, a 23-year-old visitor from Mississippi, died after falling off a chartered boat near the Brickell Avenue Bridge during a St. Patrick’s Day outing with friends.

The Rubin Firm Trial Lawyers, representing Johnson’s family, allege the incident was “completely preventable,” citing a lack of safety equipment, no proper briefing, and an unqualified captain. The firm is seeking answers while also urging witnesses to come forward as questions remain surrounding the circumstances of the incident.
