A tragic officer-involved shooting has brought attention to the challenges during mental health emergencies. Susan Teel was fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy after a 911 call was placed when she was reportedly experiencing a suicidal episode at her home.
Speaking at a news conference, Attorney Guy Rubin, along with Dr. Dudley Teel and Connor Teel, emphasized that there was no indication she posed a threat to others, bringing attention to the circumstances that led to the use of deadly force. The case highlights the critical need for proper training, oversight, and alternative approaches when responding to individuals in distress.
