Texas Judge Says Treasure Hunter Can Seek Share Of Loot

A Texas federal judge has allowed Maritime Research & Recovery LLC (MRR) to move forward with its lawsuit seeking a share of treasure recovered from the historic Spanish galleon Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas. The court upheld MRR’s breach of contract and defamation claims against Allen Exploration LLC, which allegedly refused to pay the agreed 25% share of recovered artifacts and attempted to reduce the payout. However, the judge ruled that treasure hunter Daniel Porter cannot personally bring claims against the company’s owner.

Attorneys from The Rubin Firm, including Guy Bennett Rubin and Todd Norbraten, continue to represent MRR as the high-stakes dispute over millions in recovered treasure proceeds.
