Winter Park to pay nothing to family of man killed by cops in 2022

A settlement has been reached in the fatal 2022 shooting of Daniel Knight by Winter Park police, with the city agreeing to pay nothing and admit no wrongdoing, according to court records. Knight was shot less than two minutes after officers arrived at a wedding reception following reports of a disturbance.

Attorneys Guy Rubin and Paul Aloise represented Knight’s fiancée in the federal lawsuit, which challenged the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The case concludes with the dismissal of claims, marking a significant development in the ongoing scrutiny of the incident.
